EXHIBITS
Brainwash is Tampa artist Joshuah Jest’s ode to the “father of video art” Nam June Paik. Featuring over 200 screens and 14 projectors this piece totally surrounds the viewer. The video content was selected in a manner so that the room oscillates between a state of deadening chaos, with every screen showing something different, and total harmony, with all screens showing the same content. This oscillation is also reflected in the sound design for the room.
BRAINWASH
MISSION CONTROL
Brooklyn based technology group Smooth Technology produced this giant interactive light display. Geometric patterns are generated by users pushing buttons in a game like setting.
This large gallery was conceived and constructed by David Carry in collaboration with Brian Val Habisreitinger. Inspired by James Cameron’s “Avatar”, Eden provides the perfect respite in the hustle and bustle of Seismique. With tens of cards tress, custom lighting and ultra-violet, blacklight reactive paintings it is indeed a visually stimulating garden.
EDEN
VENUS
A multi-generational playground emulating the surface of Venus was hand crocheted by world-renowned textile artist, Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam. It is one of only 3 pieces of its kind in the US. The structure is strong as well as beautiful, utilizing specially constructed net which is resilient and responsive to the slightest movement. Their innovative design allows tension to be maintained as the fiber stretches thereby enabling children to safe play. As a place of kinetic energy, the shapes and colors abstractly represent us as humans since we are all different colors and shapes.
This projection mapping installation by Houston’s duo Input/Output represents the true diversity of their city. Tracking the visitor, this generative display creates rainbow shadows further enhancing the movement through the room.
CONDENSER
CIRCUITS
Houston video artists, Input/Output rendered this installation to recreate a giant circuit board with projection mapped currents and ultra-violet lighting.
Europa is a very light dynamic mural conceived and created by Austin-based artist, Aerica Craven. The meticulously hand-painted mural imagines alien life on one of Jupiter‘s moons. Using color theory and light physics, strange creatures ebb and flow in a tranquil cycle of colors. Are they swimming in water or light?
EUROPA
ACID RAIN
A supernatural water experience where patrons walk through water without getting wet and watch water rain up from the ground. From the outside, an eerie illuminated green wall of water falling from a circular structure. ON approach, a path from. Guests will explore this structure while magically not getting wet. Once in the glowing center of the structure, the water started to fall slower and slower until it eventually stops in midair. Unbelievably the water appears to rise from the ground up. The technology was conceive and implemented by Smooth Technology while the physical structure was designed and constructed by Mark Roberts.
